CONCORD, MASSACHUSETTS -- Technical Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:TCCO), a leader in securing mission-critical communication networks, today announced that it is partnering with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), a leading technical university based in Worcester, MA. WPI, which has a solid reputation for expertise in cryptographic hardware and software technologies, will complement TCC's product development effort to expedite the development of elements of an advanced "public key" management system for TCC's Cipher X family of high-speed data security products.
The implementation of "public key" management technology will enhance the scalability, ease-of-use, and security in TCC's products, as well as add strong user authentication. The "public key" management protocols used will conform to ANSI X9F banking community standards.
Carl H. Guild, Jr., TCC's Chairman and CEO, stated, "TCC will utilize WPI's expertise in elliptic curve cryptography and its fast implementation in hardware and software, as well as its research in network protocols and other "public key" technologies. With this collaboration, TCC will be able to bring to market more quickly an efficient, robust and standards-based "public key" cryptographic technology that best meets the needs of demanding mission-critical network environments."
WPI is one of only a handful of universities that offers a concentration in cryptography and network security. Its Cryptography and Information Security Research Laboratory has extensive archives and on-going research in cryptography and is widely known for its cryptographic research efforts, particularly its applied research in the field of optimized hardware implementations of high-speed cryptographic transforms.
